It is my last day in CDMX! If every month goes by this fast, I might just have to make it 2 years…JUST KIDDING!
Amongst the McDonald’s crazy and a 3-day hiatus from food poisoning, I’ve managed to fit a lot in including a lucha libre match, a weekend trip to Tulum, a day trip to Tepotzotlán where we hiked up Tepozteco, a number of museums and markets, a fancy night out to the 25th best restaurant in the world, Pujol, and our farewell event was in Xuchomilco where we took Trajineras (gondola-like boats) through the canals.
I’ve eaten way too many tacos but worked some off at the Mexican version of SoulCycle (Siclo) and spent some time in El Bosque Chapultepec (CDMX park bigger than Central Park). I’ve made a couple contacts that I think can help us out too – Colton Soref with Tint (colton@tintup.com) and Gary Koehl who is looking into SharePoint development for us.
I also managed to lose my keys…twice (some things don’t change).
We had our first Junction this month too, which is an event hosted by Remote Year where an RY member will give a talk along with local community speakers. Our RY speaker this month was Carol Schulte – a woman’s motivational speaker (www.womenlivingbig.com). Her talk was all about goal setting and I want to share the outline she had us do – it was honestly an excellent exercise and I hope some of you do it too!
In 2017, I want…
- How do I want to Feel (5 words):
- My Word for the Year:
- My 1 Intention:
- My 2 Resolutions:
- My 3 Goals:
- My Mantra:
One of the local speakers was Chucho – an architect who lived in Chicago for a bit then came back to Mexico City and started a company building custom bikes. He also goes around to local communities where cars and motorcycles are a luxury and teaches them how to build their own bikes.
The other was a psychologist who had us do some annoying ice-breakers like go up to someone you don’t know, look them in the eyes and tell them if you trust them or not (I don’t recommend we do this). I guess the other one was ok – finding 3 things in common with someone you have just met.
Alright Kin, I’m off to Bogota and will write again soon. Padre (that means cool).

But the real question: How many tacos is too many tacos?
